An Interview with George Meyer

 Q. What is your role at Temple Baptist Church and when did you begin serving here?
I am the Student Pastor. I began serving here February 29th, 2016.

Q. What is one book (other than the Bible) that you have read recently that has had a significant impact upon you? How did it change you?
“God’s Big Picture” by Vaughan Roberts has really helped me comprehend how the entire Bible is designed to proclaim the plan of God through Jesus Christ for the redemption of his Church and the Glory of God. It has enriched how I study the scripture for my personal growth in Christ and for teaching students.

Q. What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
Colossians 1:28, “Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.” My passion is to always make Christ known through the preaching and teaching of His Word. I hope to see a church that thrives on making disciples that make disciples. This verse identifies that clearly.

Q. Who are some of the most influential theologians/pastors/church leaders in your life?
Some of the most influential contemporary Christian leaders and authors in my life are John Frame, John Grudem, H.B. Charles Jr., John Piper, Eric Mason, Alvin Reed, John MacArthur and J.D. Greear. These men have helped shape and clarify my understanding of theology, ministry, how I read the Bible, how I serve the Church, how I understand reconciliation, how I serve in the church, and how I view the lost. I am so grateful for these men and still continue to grow and learn from them via podcasts, reading, lectures, and sermons.

Q. What’s your favorite worship song/hymn?
Show Us Christ by Sovereign Grace Music.

Q. What hobbies do you have?
My favorite hobby is fishing.

Q. Why do you love serving at Temple Baptist Church?
I love serving at Temple because God has brought a hungry people from all walks of life, with different backgrounds, prejudices, economic upbringings, political preferences, brokenness, diversity and so much more for the sake of growing in the Gospel. Temple has students and families that are so eager to grow in the knowledge of Christ. Temple is a church that is willing to grow in Christ and reach its community. These are great passions of mine and it makes serving a joyful melody in my heart.
